INTERNATIONAL LABOUR MIGRATION AND THE GULF COUNTRIES (ON THE EXAMPLE OF INDIAN IMMIGRANTS IN THE UAE)

Abstract

The article examines the problems of international labour migration on the example of the UAE. Pull factors influencing labour migration are analyzed. The article also studies the specifics of the UAE: strict policy of state regulation and the kafala system. It is indicated that the UAE has become the country with the highest immigrant share of the population. The paper analyzes dynamics of labour migration to the UAE and changes in the structure of migration by country of origin. In 2024, the first place was occupied by immigrants from India. There are various categories of immigrants from India that the article examines: low-skilled workers, specialists and entrepreneurs. The research shows that Indians make a significant contribution to the development of education and healthcare.
