The article examines the Israel-Palestine conflict in Gaza that
escalated on October 7, 2023, through the prism of the ideology of the radical
Palestinian organization Hamas. It analyzes its genesis and the documents that
have been at the core of its activities since 1987. Hamas’ reference points are
Islam, the call for jihad with the goal of ‘liberating all of Palestine’, that is,
non-recognition of Israel.
The article analyzes the motives, features of the organization and
actions of the current Hamas leadership since the start of the conflict.
The author pays close attention to the views on the ideology and
practices of Hamas from the authorities, the public and the media of Arab
countries. Despite the differences in approaches, in general, the legitimate
rights of Palestine are universally supported.
However, the reaction and responses to the events are not
unambiguous. This reflects the impact of the rebalancing of relations and the
ongoing changes in the hierarchy of the countries of the region. At the same
time, today without the participation of Hamas, which has offered its
alternative in approach to political processes in the Middle East, it is difficult
to defuse the Arab-Israeli conflict. It is obvious that as long as the vital
environment for the existence of Hamas remains, it will continue to support the
vision of the organization.
