The article is devoted to the activities of women's nongovernmental organizations that have played a significant role in the process of promoting legislative initiatives that protect the rights of women and girls. Significant in this respect was the year 1996, when the Kyrgyz Republic acceded to the UN Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women. In addition to the legal aspects that affect the socio-economic status of women in the republic, much attention is paid to women's entrepreneurship, which ensures the financial and economic independence of women, which, in turn, leads to strengthening the status of women in society.
